About the Chorus

Founded by Cora Gooch Brooks in 1923 to “train men and women in the art of choral singing, to  provide an opportunity  for the enjoyment and appreciaton of good music and to present concerts for the public benefit,” BCS celebrated it’s 100th year with a gala concert in 2023.

As we move into our second century, we continue to strive toward these original goals with a new focus on eclectic contemporary works. Our members come with a mix of musical skills so various at home teaching materials are provided, including mp3s of longer works with piano over for each voice part. We attempt to combine serious focus on learning the music with fun socializing throughout the season.  In addition to our public concert, we make ourselves available in the community for a variety of non profit events. We are always open to new members and have a policy that no one will be refused membership for inability to pay dues.
