The Oriana Consort is a 30-voice Cambridge-based choir that presents concerts in Boston, Cambridge, and surrounding suburbs (when health considerations permit, of course). Our eclectic repertory is drawn from the choral music of seven centuries — the fifteenth through the twenty-first — and is mainly a cappella, though our spring concerts include Baroque works that are accompanied by instrumentalists from greater Boston’s outstanding early music community. Our concerts have included New England premieres of choral works by a number of young American composers. In these months of Covid-19 we are offering Virtual Choir performances and retrospectives of our past recordings to friends and followers on our email list. We were delighted to be recently supported in our ventures by a generous grant from Cambridge Arts and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Our mission is to form and maintain a musical community — a bonding of our singers and our audiences — which, through the preparation and presentation of artistic performances of gems of choral music from across the centuries, will affect the lives of all.
