Reading Community Singers is a community-based, non-auditioned chorus that recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. While many members reside in Reading, quite a few singers hail from numerous other municipalities. Members represent a wide range in ages, backgrounds, and professions. Some are in their first year of membership; others have sung with RCS for decades.
The RCS repertoire covers a broad spectrum of music, from classical pieces to musical show tunes. Concerts take place twice a year, during the holiday season and in the spring. For the 2020 holiday concert, RCS is conducting rehearsals for a virtual performance in December. Some of the numbers performed include soloists and small groups enhancing the presentation of the entire ensemble. A guest artist appears at each concert, with the spring concert featuring the most recent winner of the RCS scholarship.
