Event Information:

Chorus pro Musica presents Joseph Haydn’s glorious oratorio “The Seasons” (Die Jahreszeiten), a sweeping musical journey through spring’s awakening, summer’s abundance, autumn’s harvest, and winter’s reflection. Composed in 1801 as a companion to his celebrated “The Creation,” this masterwork showcases Haydn at the height of his powers, combining vivid orchestral tone painting with magnificent choral writing and lyrical solo passages.

Our 100-voice chorus joins forces with a 48-piece professional orchestra and three distinguished soloists to bring this epic work to life in Jordan Hall’s renowned acoustics. From the exuberant “Spring” chorus celebrating nature’s renewal to the dramatic “Summer” thunderstorm, from the joyful wine harvest of “Autumn” to “Winter’s” profound meditations on mortality and redemption, Haydn’s score captures the full spectrum of human experience through the cycle of the year.
