Event Information:

The Oriana Consort seeks experienced singers in all voice parts (especially low basses) to join us for three  November performances of “There is Sweet Music: Choral expressions of comfort and connection” — a cappella choral works from the 17th, 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries by Heinrich Schuetz, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc, Salamone Rossi, Charles Villiers Stanford, Camille Saint-Saens, Ēriks Ešenvalds, James MacMillan, Robert Hobby, Daniel Gawthorp, Williametta Spencer, and Rosephanye Powell. Sunday evening rehearsals in Cambridge begin September 13. Oriana is an accomplished chorale of about thirty singers, with an eclectic repertory, enthusiastic audiences, and a warm and attractive sound. Listen to us at www.orianaconsort.org (click Hear Us / Concerts Archive; select a concert and click underlined titles). We seek good-to-excellent readers with clear, center-of-the-pitch voices that work well with the group. Soloists are always drawn from our membership.

To schedule a half-hour audition in Cambridge on the afternoon of August 29, September 5, or September 12, please email director Walter Chapin at wlchapin@comcast.net, summarizing your choral experience. Half hour time slots begin at 3pm. For your audition you’ll join a quartet of Oriana members to read excerpts from our recent repertory and to sing a brief but fairly difficult choral part that we’ll ask you to prepare during the two days before your audition. Please bring a solo that shows off your voice at its best – your choice of length, genre, and difficulty.
